What Is UX Design?

User Experience “UX” design focuses on all aspects of a user’s perceived experience with a product, app, or website. Aspects may include usability, usefulness, desirability, brand perception, and overall performance.
UX design is a bigger concept than User Interface “UI” design, which focuses primarily on the design of an interface with a computer, device, or software.
5 Elements of UX Design
- Strategy: Strategy defines the user needs and business objectives to create a clear plan.
- Scope: Scope determines the features and content based on the strategy, defining the requirements of the project.
- Structure: Structure is defined by how the elements on the site or app will work together and interact, focusing on information architecture.
- Skeleton: The skeleton, or wireframe, is the layout and arrangement of elements on the screen such as navigation, widgets, buttons, etc.
- Surface: Finally, the surface or “look and feel” is the final visual design that combines color, typography, imagery, and branding.
