What Is UI User Interface Design?
UI “User Interface” design describes the point of human to computer interaction. This can include any element that a user interacts with to control a device or software.
Examples can include visual elements such as buttons, icons, and text, as well as basic human-computer physical elements such as mice, keyboards, and trackpads.
UI design should be intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing for the end user to easily interface with the device or software
UI design is a more narrow concept than User Experience “UX” design which encompasses all aspects of a user’s perceived experience with a product, app, or website.
Components of a User Interface
- Visual elements: Buttons, icons, text, fonts, colors, navigation menus, and the overall layout of an application or website.
- Interactive elements: Controls that users manipulate to perform actions, such as sliders, toggles, and text fields.
- Input devices: How users provide commands, including keyboards, mice, touchscreens, and microphones.
- Output devices: How the system provides feedback to the user, such as monitors, speakers, and haptic feedback.
- Graphics: All visual assets that make up the interface, including illustrations, animations, and videos.
